Dr. Allison Chu, O.D.
Dr. Chu grew up in Central California and moved to Northern California for school. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Health at UC Berkeley and stayed for another four years for Berkeley’s School of Optometry. She fell in love with the Bay Area and decided to stay for its amazing weather, delicious food, and abundant nature.
Dr. Chu enjoys primary care optometry and is particularly interested in serving pediatric populations. During her training, she completed externships at the Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Hospital in Washington and the Eastmont Wellness Center, a community health clinic in Oakland. She is board certified by the California State Board of Optometry and is certified to treat glaucoma.
During her time at Berkeley, Dr. Chu was highly involved in the East Bay community. She helped lead OASES, a prominent after-school program that provides support to under-resourced youth in the Oakland community. She also provided vision screenings at elementary schools across the East Bay. She hopes to continue giving back to the community both locally within the Bay Area as well as internationally. In her free time, she loves to bake, hike, play tennis, travel, and care for her houseplants.
